It seems that spring is officially here. I hesitate to say that out loud because the moment I do we will have a nice, big snowstorm, but we can hope. I love the spring! We have been spending so much time outside enjoying the weather! So it seems like a good time to talk about sunscreen!
I am a little obsessed with sun protection. Two years ago I had a large section of my scalp removed due to skin cancer. I won't go into the gory details because I would hate for you to lose your lunch (remember--I'm not a big advocate of bulimia.) I will say the surgery was horrific (I was AWAKE), the recovery was painful and my unintended face lift left me unrecognizably swollen for a week. Beyond that I am now sporting a lovely bald spot right on the top of my head! If you really want I'll have Ryan take a picture tonight and post it tomorrow...
So what can I say? Hats, people! Sunscreen!! There is NO SUCH THING as a "safe base tan." Don't go there! Cover yourselves and for heaven's sake COVER YOUR KIDS!!!! Be outside; enjoy the spring, but don't risk your life! :)
FIT tip: Keep a small basket with face sunscreen sticks, spray-on sunscreen and regular sunscreen right by the door you usually leave your house from. Makes it quick and easy to remember and apply!
