Major hurdle overcome today!!!  

I got the wetsuit on.

Becca and I met at the reservoir for our first attempt at an open water swim.

We tugged.  We pulled.  We stretched.  We shimmied.  I hope these pictures don't scar you for life.

You have NO IDEA how hard that was.

Becca's wetsuit brand was "Orca."  Really?  Isn't that a kind of whale?  Well, we felt like whales.

Oh, baby.

In all seriousness...both of us borrowed our suits from friends.  Friends that are shorter than us.  After practically killing myself to get into that wetsuit that was decidedly TOO SHORT for me, I made the decision to just bite the bullet and buy myself one.  Because after putting it on, I was so exhausted, I felt like I had already DONE the triathlon!!!

But no, onward and upward.  Here we are in the water!

And then, after the exhausting feat of putting the dang things on and swimming over a half mile in the murky water, we had to take them off!!!!

Exhausting!!  I went straight to Runner's Roost and bought myself my very own whale costume wet suit.  It was sooooo much easier to put on--I think I made the right choice.

We are doing a repeat performance on Friday.  I'm sure all the swimmers at the beach will enjoy the show.

But who cares?!  We did it!!!
