My new friend, Ben
This evening I had my first appointment with Ben, my new PT/BFF. I mean, who wouldn't want to be best friends with a man that has you lay down on a comfy table, greases up his hands and rubs your sore knee? Oh, and he also figured out what is wrong with me and gave me exercises to work on! He says that I have some weak hip muscles which are causing my knees to kind of collapse inward when I run, which then causes the knee caps to move over, which then causes major pain and irritation--especially when I am running longer distances. So hopefully as I strengthen these specific muscle groups, the problem will be fixed. In the meantime--NO RUNNING for me. I go back in on the 16th so he can see where I am at. Hopefully he will give me the all clear, because my tri is on the 21st, and unless they have changed the rules, I need to run a 5K at the end of that little event.
By the time I got home from visiting Ben, I was STARVING, having also spent all day at the water park with my kids and not eaten since lunch. So I made myself the mother of all salads with a veggie burger on top and had watermelon for dessert. I love the summer, if nothing else than for watermelon.
