I had a great morning--my last really big chance to block train before next Saturday. I did a 25 mile ride around the local reservoir twice (plus the ride there and back) and then I immediately went out and ran just over a 5K. I snapped this shot around mile 18 of the ride. Pretty good for a one-handed picture taken while riding!
The run started a little wobbly. This was the first time I have done bike to run (I have done run to swim tons of times, as well as bike to swim.) But you are using different muscles, so I got into it fine after a little bit. I lamented the fact that we live in such a hilly place multiple times today, but apparently the course on Saturday is quite hilly, so I guess it's good practice.
Here I am after the run in all my glory. Thank goodness it was a beautiful day! When I ran past the local high school the temperature read 70 degrees!!
I am really hoping this will help me through the run. I'm not ashamed to admit that doing a 10K after swimming 1100 yards and then biking 20 miles has me a little worried. I know I have mentioned it before, but this guy Jeff Galloway is an Olympic runner and he advocates doing run/walk/run intervals to actually increase your speed and decrease your chances of injury. I have found that my endurance is greatly increased when I follow this method. And I'm going to need all the endurance I can get!!
Please keep sending healthy vibes my way!! Lincoln now has a horrible cough and I'm pretty sure he is the one that gave me the flu the last time around. I'm trying to keep my distance, but considering I am the primary caregiver, that can be a bit tricky!
Big plans for this week--I'm not really going to taper until Friday. I feel like I can't really rest since I had to take so much time off for our trip and due to illness. Seriously--I could use your prayers and mental support! :)
If nothing else, I plan to look the part. I have been carefully watching the warm ups that the Olympic swimmers do so I can mimic them at the race and intimidate my opponents. :) Ha ha! My only goal is to cross the finish line!!

You could do that cool thing Phelps does with his arms before he swims. I think you look FANTASTIC in your picture after biking and running. Praying for lots of good health and a fantastic experience for you Saturday.
ReplyDeleteI want to hear more about your new timer. I've been trying to figure out if I can program intervals on Quin's Garmin but I don't think it will work. This might be what I need so I'm not looking at my watch constantly.
