A practice hike

Our Labor day started off bright and early with a brisk hike to one of our favorite places--Devil's Head.  We haven't done the hike in a few years and I was impressed by how much better my kids did it this time!  We half ran up that mountain and I didn't hear a single complaint the entire time.  Maybe it helped that we took the dog with us.
At the very end you climb up 143 steps to a fire lookout station way on the tippy top of the mountain.  Ryan and Isaac stayed with Kirby at the bottom of the stairs while I climbed up with the three little ones.  It's a lot less daunting on the way up than it is on the way down!!  Yikes!
On the way up.

The view from the top.
The hike was beautiful and pretty easy--but today I am feeling it in my calves!!  I guess it was a bit more strenuous than I thought it was!  It's good practice, though.  The plan is to take the kids to hike their first "Fourteener" (a mountain peak over 14,000 ft.) in two weeks!  I am so excited!!

This morning as I was skipping a 6 am swim in the reservoir in favor of helping get my kids off to school, I came to the conclusion that if I had to eat any food for the rest of my life, it would be my homemade Greek yogurt.  It is really just that good.

How about you?  Any food you would never, ever get sick of?

p.s.  I put a new week of meal plans up for those of you who like that! (Becca...)

  1. Devils head looks like a lovely place for a hike! Not sure if I would make up the last bit on the steps, as I'm really scared of heights! :)
I have also nominated you for a Liebster blog award, but if you've already had one or don't want to do it, you don't have to. :)
